![]() Note that you will have to check the monitor if it's getting 4k/120hz/RGB signal. However, this solution stopped working in Ventura for some reason (my SwitchResX wouldn’t save or apply anything, even after I reset it)Ĭan someone confirm if you are getting 4k 120 hz RGB 10 bit on intel Macs using sonama? ![]() In SwitchResX, I used to do the custom 4K resolution with custom CVB-T2 timing that my monitor supported. My catch was that my Mac has the 5600M internal GPU, so I can’t confirm if Macs with 5500M internal GPUs or 6800XT GPUs like that one guy’s will also do it. One person tried it and saw no Can you confirm its a Macbook pro 2019 intel only and not hackintosh? I didnt get the catch do you have a egpu or its the inbuild radeon I can confirm that my Mac is a real 2019 Intel MacBook Pro and isn’t a hackintosh. There are some flags for DSC and FEC in some of Apple's override files for the Apple Pro Display XDR but I don't know if they work. It should work in Catalina but doesn't work in all cases in Big Sur. Anyway, with DSC at 12 bpp, the max pixel clock is 2160 MHz and 3% from that is 2095 MHz which is still enough for the display's 1939 MHz so this patch wouldn't help for this display. In the case of the G9 which uses DSC, it's probably not a good idea to exclude FEC from the calculation (does DSC even work without FEC?). His display probably doesn't use FEC so it's ok to remove that from the calculation so he can get 120 Hz instead of having to lower the refresh rate to 117 Hz. ![]() FEC reduces allowed bandwidth by 3% according to the AMD driver code that found. What the patch does is remove FEC from the calculation. That can be done with 12bpp DSC or 8bpc 4:2:0 (but 4:2:0 is not mentioned in the EDID so DSC must be used). I believe the G9 uses 1939.49 MHz for 240 Hz (the LC49G95T exists in the linuxhw/EDID repository). Hi do you think this fix will also enable 5120x1440 under macos ? currently i am not able to drive my Samsung Odyssey G9 5120x1440 monitor at 240Hz refresh rate in macos but works fine under windows. ![]()
